GlobeImmune Announces Opening of Randomized Phase 2 Chordoma Trial at National Cancer Institute

Chordoma patients planning to have radiation therapy will soon have a new treatment option to consider that is intended to improve the effectiveness of radiation. Later this month, researchers at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) will launch a new Phase 2 clinical trial for chordoma patients testing a therapeutic vaccine called GI-6301 in combination with radiation. This trial builds upon results from a recently completed Phase 1 clinical trial of the vaccine, which stimulates the immune system to attack cells that express brachyury - a protein that is highly active in chordoma and many other cancers. The upcoming trial is designed specifically for chordoma patients who are planning to have radiation to treat residual tumor that could not be removed with surgery, newly diagnosed patients who cannot have surgery, or patients who have had a local recurrence after prior treatment. We will have additional details about the trial from the NCI to announce shortly. In the mean time, you can learn about this new trial onclinicaltrials.gov
