Chi-chi Nwanoku & friends Chamber Concert benefit

On Monday 4th February, a private chamber concert was held for the benefit of Chordoma UK. Hosted by Pauline Heerema, Chi-chi Nwanoku & friends played music by Mozart, Vanhal, Boccherini, Haydn & Dragonetti. An ex-sprinter and half the size of her double bass, Chi-chi gained a reputation as one of the finest exponents of her instrument today. She is Principal Double Bassist and a founder of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. As a Professor of Double Bass Historical Studies at the Royal Academy of Music, she was made a Fellow there in 1998. Colin Scobie began playing the violin aged eight, studying at the Royal College of Music, London. His 2008 concerto debut in Edinburgh's Queen's Hall was recorded by Radio Scotland, and he has since given several concerto performances in Europe. Lizzie Ball is a graduate of St. John's College, Cambridge, RCM, and GSMD. She has performed as violinist and vocalist in significant venues and festivals in UK, Europe and South America. Lizzie enjoys combining classical performance with jazz, latin and folk. John Crockatt performed on viola specialising in baroque and classical eras. He has performed in the Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Cite de la Musique in Paris. Ruth Alford on the cello, thrives on a broad musical diet from Baroque to Contemporary, whilst sharing her enthusiasm for music through various educational outlets. She performs and records widely throughout Europe, Far East and America as a principal player and continuo 'cellist.

How your donation is spent

There is little funding available for research into this relentless bone cancer mainly because it is relatively rare, occurring in only 1 in 800,000 of the population. Without a focused approach to raising money for research into chordoma, little will change quickly.
